Julissa Mishay Norment (she/they) is a published playwright, book writer, lyricist, and an award-winning and proud member of the Dramatist Guild. Originally from Houston, Julissa now lives in Philadelphia, finishing their final year as an M.F.A. Musical Theater Collaboration candidate for book and lyrics. Their work encapsulates a Black, Queer, and Womanist perspective while striving to diversify theatrical experiences. Their play Dugout Daisies was one of the top six finalists and winner of the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival in 2023. Concord Theatricals published it in 2024, and it is now available for licensing. Beyond their work as a writer, Julissa is also a dedicated educator. They serve as a teaching artist and instructor at Temple University and a lyrics mentor at Yes! And… Collaborative Arts. They also served as a former M.F.A. mentor at Horizon Theatre Company’s New South Young Playwrights Festival.
